Happy release day! To celebrate, I’m sharing a map of the Isles of Fae!
This project has officially gone from my development goals of “I want to build a fae court system around islands” to this—a map and a book. This world is my playground, and this map inspires me every day. Shadow & Smite is only the beginning.
So without further ado, it’s finally time to introduce the Isles of Fae.
Big developments happening over here. I have a brand new series that I’m developing—it’s romantic, fantastical, and epic. The story is set in an entirely new world, and it’s a Fae enemies-to-lovers romance with some truly delicious plot twists. Basically, I’m in absolute love with it, and it’s really hard to keep my mouth shut while it’s in development. Release is expected for Summer 2022. Stay tuned, and I’ll say more as we get closer—trust me, you’ll want to know when ARCs are available.
That’s the big book update from me! I’ll also be in a different cocoon this season, the surgery type. I have a genetic defect that puts me at high risk of breast cancer, and I’ve decided to go forward with a preventative mastectomy. All healing thoughts are greatly appreciated.
So that’s me, wrapped in a cocoon of bodily healing and writing.
I know the world is really messy right now, so please do your best to take care of yourselves, okay? Even if your best feels small, it’s enough. I believe in your ability to keep fighting another day. Even when it’s impossible to see, hope is always there.
With all my love, Mel
The Becoming Alice trilogy is now available as a 3-in-1 edition with this shiny cover art I’m absolutely obsessed with. Want to try and win a digital copy? [Click here] to enter the Goodreads giveaway, open until Jan 20th. Otherwise, be sure to check out Becoming Alice in [ebook][paperback] and [hardcover].
After June 2022, the original versions of A Bigfoot’s Gift, A Bigfoot’s Quest, and A Bigfoot’s Destiny will be ebook only. That’s right, these editions will be going out of print. This is the final step in separating the Mel Blooms and Mel Braxton pennames. After June 2022, the only way to have a print version of the series will be the 3-in-1 edition, so if you want a copy of the original prints, click to order [A Bigfoot’s Gift][A Bigfoot’s Quest] or [A Bigfoot’s Destiny]
Alice has a destiny. Her actions impact everyone: her friends, family, and the Bigfoot Village. Honestly, it’s too much, and under the pressure, something has to break…
It’s here. A Bigfoot’s Destiny is now available! The wait is over, and Alice’s series is complete.
I can’t begin to explain how proud I am of this story. This book became a love letter to myself. Questions of deserving affections, the challenges of self compassion, and the difficulty of differences rise again and again in Alice’s final adventure. Writing this was an emotional gauntlet, but I’m still here on the other side.
May you find strength from this story—I know I did while writing it.
With all my love,
Mel Braxton
I am becoming Alice. I have a gift. My Bigfoot body can shift into a human one. It’s a cool power, but the human world is a dangerous place…
Like all Bigfoots, Alice knows to hide from humans at any cost. But when she learns to shift into a human, all the rules change.
Being a human can be fun. There are friends to make, volleyball games to play, and boys to romance. Being a human can also be hard. Rivals can be cruel, and Alice faces the constant danger of being exposed for what she is.
Alice’s destiny looms over everything. Soon, humans and Bigfoots will meet, and her shifting powers make her responsible for the encounter.
It’s a lot of pressure for a teenager. To succeed, she must discover who she really is—and find out in time to save the Bigfoots.
Hi there! I hope you’re eager for some updates, because here we go! A Bigfoot’s Destiny is in the works, and I have a new project taking shape, something that mixes my love of military scify and scify romance. More on both stories below!
First things first: A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped with the Wing Builder release! Thanks to those who dropped awesome reviews and helped me to spread the word. Your support makes my work possible.
Now for an update on A Bigfoot’s Destiny! This will be the third and final book in the Becoming Alice trilogy. In this final adventure, Alice must face the truth of who she is, a daunting task when her magical crystal breaks, shattering her ability to shift between Bigfoot and human. Alice must embrace her destiny or risk the exposure of the entire Bigfoot community.
I’ve also started work on a new story that I’m currently calling The Cadet. This story is inspired by my love of Star Trek—but with an extra emphasis on romantic elements. A little creepier than my other books, this story explores a romance between an adventurous cadet and an unexpected hero. With themes inspired by Beauty and the Beast and plot twists pulled from military scify, this story centers around a beast-to-lovers romance.
So be sure to stay tuned for release dates and cover reveals! A Bigfoot’s Destiny is on pace to be released this winter and I’ll also be launching a 3-in-1 edition of Becoming Alice that will feature a new, beautiful cover. (This cover art is already done, and it’s so hard for me to keep this under wraps! It’s fantastic!)
And that’s what’s going on here! I can’t wait for these stories to reach you.
I’m thrilled to finally be sharing Wing Builder with the world!
Honestly, releases aren’t that easy for me. I am tense with nervous excitement as I watch reviews and sales. Indie authoring has been quite an adventure, and the challenges it sends my way always force me to grow. This newest phase is no exception.
Trust, trust, trust, the story goes. And it’s a lesson that I absolutely need to internalize as I navigate these release insecurities. Trust in the story and my strength to grow from whatever happens next. Maybe we can all learn to trust ourselves a little bit better.
So thank you for taking an interest in my work. You, my dear readers, are the ones who make me an author, and for that, I’ll be counting my blessing forever.
All my best, Mel Braxton
Wing Builder He has his wings, she needs to build hers.
Wren knew she was weird, but she also believed she was human. When she learns she’s an heir to a House Banae… she also discovers someone wants her dead.
Ezal is cursed with the Blight, his gray wings making him ineligible to be Wren’s suitor. When he is assigned as Wren’s Protector, he welcomes the responsibility, eager to guard her at any cost.
To become Lady Banae, Wren must marry—and quickly! While white-winged bachelors line up to be Wren’s suitors, it’s Ezal who has captured her heart.
Together, Wren and Ezal navigate mysterious attacks and political maneuvers. As danger and death whirl around them, they must forge their own way forward or accept eternal separation.
Wing Builder is a new-adult romance set in a breathtaking sci-fantasy skyscape. Expect an aerial world torn by political agendas. This complete stand-alone story is a sweeter romance with steamier moments and includes a “happily ever after.” Wing Builder features a competition between suitors, beautiful dresses, and a woman stepping into her strength. There is also a cat.
