About

Mel’s path toward authorhood was pretty nonlinear. She grew up in the Midwest where her youthful obsession with storytelling fell short of the demands of the publishing market. So, she fell sway to the siren’s call of both collegiate swimming and materials science.

As soon as she finished her undergrad, she got married, packed a uhaul, and drove off to Costal California for a PhD, which was nice. If only her inevitable work in the engineering industry wasn’t such a poor fit.

She burned out.
She did it as cleverly as she could.

Determined to build a new career and empowered by the modern publishing landscape, she reinvented herself as an author. Her amazing husband deserves a million shout-outs for his constant support.

Mel Braxton happily resides in rainy Oregon where she writes tales of toe-curling love, twisty plots, and otherworldly places.
