More Books from the Isles of Fae

It’s been about two months since the launch of Shadow and Smite, and I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who has supported this launch! As an author, it is an honor when my books reach their readers, and I’m eager to send more stories your way.

Cursed with the Dragon Prince will be my next book. This is a standalone romance set in the Isles of Fae universe, focusing on the isle of Wisp and the dragon fae who live there. This story is deeply transformative and beautiful in its expression of curses and blessings. If you’ve enjoyed the throne and land-as-deity concepts from Isles of Fae universe, you’ll love this story.

You can preorder Cursed with the Dragon Prince [here]. I’m aiming to publish this in February/March.

In other news, book two of the Shadow and Smite quarter is in development. I’ll share chapter one in January! I’ve got a surprise bonus epilogue in the works too, featuring Rhett and Eleanor.

Thanks again for your support! I’m excited to get my next books to you soon!

Welcome to The Isles of Fae

It’s been a while. And there’s so much to say. The Isle of Fae is ready for reveal.

Where to begin. This project is the biggest thing I’ve attempted. I’m working on two series. There’s a breathtaking map I can’t wait to show you. This is a world brimming with romantic adventures.

Shadow & Smite is ready for an August release.

This is the first book in an epic quartet following the adventures of Ayla and Zayne. When I first plotted this project, I looked at my plan and thought “if I can pull this off I’m going to be so proud of myself.” And apparently, I am proud (and that’s a very scary for me to say before a release. But hey, I’m trying to trust myself.)

I can’t wait for this to reach you. I hope you love it as much as I do.

“๐ผ ๐‘›๐‘’๐‘’๐‘‘ ๐‘ก๐‘œ ๐‘ ๐‘Ž๐‘ฃ๐‘’ ๐‘š๐‘ฆ ๐‘ ๐‘–๐‘ ๐‘ก๐‘’๐‘Ÿ.” โ€”๐‘๐‘Ž๐‘ฆ๐‘›๐‘’

A necromancer holds the strings to my sister’s soul. By rescuing her, I’ll save the Shadow Court.

I have a plan. Itโ€™s a longshot, but it is the best I have. Iโ€™ll draw the attention of undead Shades. The Shades however pursue someone else: Ayla, a beautiful fae I dismissed too quickly. Turns out, there’s something special about herโ€”I just don’t know what it is.

Iโ€™m on the run, fleeing to the Isles of Fae. As a part-fae bastard, I want to escape my past. Maybe I’ll learn the truth of my heritage or find the Firewolf I see in my visions. Iโ€™m going. And nothing can derail meโ€”at least until Zayne ruins everything.

Because of him, I am branded by Shades. Now a gray blemish grows on my chest. With time, it will bind my soul, kill me, and raise me as an undead. I didnโ€™t escape just to be slain.

Zayne has a remedy, one he will shareโ€”if we save his sister from a necromancer.

My options are limited, and I join his quest. Only I have secrets, and I donโ€™t trust him. Yet every time he heals my brand, he touches my bare skin. With his palm pressed to my heart, Iโ€™m drawn closer to him.

Thereโ€™s no denying the fire between us. Or the obstacles. As my brand and feelings grow, I realize escape was a terrible plan.

Wing Builder’s Release

I’m thrilled to finally be sharing Wing Builder with the world!

Honestly, releases aren’t that easy for me. I am tense with nervous excitement as I watch reviews and sales. Indie authoring has been quite an adventure, and the challenges it sends my way always force me to grow. This newest phase is no exception.

Trust, trust, trust, the story goes. And it’s a lesson that I absolutely need to internalize as I navigate these release insecurities. Trust in the story and my strength to grow from whatever happens next. Maybe we can all learn to trust ourselves a little bit better.

So thank you for taking an interest in my work. You, my dear readers, are the ones who make me an author, and for that, I’ll be counting my blessing forever.

All my best,
Mel Braxton

Wing Builder
He has his wings, she needs to build hers.

Wren knew she was weird, but she also believed she was human. When she learns sheโ€™s an heir to a House Banaeโ€ฆ she also discovers someone wants her dead.

Ezal is cursed with the Blight, his gray wings making him ineligible to be Wrenโ€™s suitor. When he is assigned as Wrenโ€™s Protector, he welcomes the responsibility, eager to guard her at any cost.

To become Lady Banae, Wren must marryโ€”and quickly! While white-winged bachelors line up to be Wrenโ€™s suitors, itโ€™s Ezal who has captured her heart.

Together, Wren and Ezal navigate mysterious attacks and political maneuvers. As danger and death whirl around them, they must forge their own way forward or accept eternal separation.

Wing Builder is a new-adult romance set in a breathtaking sci-fantasy skyscape. Expect an aerial world torn by political agendas. This complete stand-alone story is a sweeter romance with steamier moments and includes a “happily ever after.” Wing Builder features a competition between suitors, beautiful dresses, and a woman stepping into her strength. There is also a cat.

Fall leaves, cozy reads, and a new Wing Builder preview

Happy fall and big news! I’ve just finished the first draft of Wing Builder, and to celebrate, I’m sharing a new preview today at the bottom of this message!

The rains have started here and my burrowing-instinct has entered over-drive, desperate to make my home a little extra cozy. It’s been a great environment for the last stretch of Wing Builder’s first draft.

It’s been amazing to see this draft come together. This setting is breathtaking, these characters are complex with rich relationships, and the plotโ€”oh, is it exciting.

There remains plenty of editing between now and publicationโ€”my first drafts can be pretty messyโ€”but completing the first write-through is still a critical point in development. I’m already excited for the day I’ll share this story with you.

Hope you enjoy the blurb and wishing you cozy days of reading,
Mel Braxton

He has his wings, she needs to build hers.

Wren was a determined student with the 5-year plan to prove it. Silver-eyed and a little bit different, growing up hadnโ€™t been easy, but now her plans are finally coming to fruition. Everything was going perfectlyโ€ฆ Until the assassin attacked.

Ezal was head guard and had reached the end of his goals. Because of his gray-wings, evidence of Lethariaโ€™s Blight, it was the most he hoped to become. His fascination with Earthan science would never be more than a peculiarity.

When an assassin attacks Wren, Ezal saves her. He returns her to Letharia, the homeworld she didnโ€™t know she had. Due to the mysterious deaths of her birth parents, she is now heir to her house and, despite her winglessness, must be established as Lady Bani.

But power comes with a cost. Wren must marryโ€”and quicklyโ€”for she needs a winged spouse to carry her in the upcoming rite. Her pedigreed suitors are eager, but none have caught her eyeโ€”not the way gray-winged Ezal has.

As the assassination attempts continue, Ezal and Wren race against time. They must uncover the truth of their attackersโ€”and the value of their loveโ€”before making decisions they’ll both regret.

Wing Builder is a sci-fantasy romance. Expect aerial world-building and a swoon-worthy romance torn by political agendas. This story features a competition between suitors, beautiful dresses, an unhealthy obsession with string theory, and so many feathers. Coming April 2021.
